Join us for a free opportunity to learn from expert panelists on a variety of caregiving topics.

The VNA Caregiver Conference will spotlight healthcare and human services available in our community. Join us for breakfast, provided by VNA, and bring your questions for our local experts from the Visiting Nurse Association, Alzheimer & Parkinson Association, Senior Resource Association, the Law Office of Marie Conforti, Scully-Welsch Cancer Center and Veterans Services of Indian River County.

Guest Speaker

Chris MacLellan is an author, blogger, radio show host and advocate. He is affectionately known as “The Bow Tie Guy” in many caregiving circles. Faced with his partner’s diagnosis of esophageal cancer in 2011, Chris started a caregiving blog entitled The Purple Jacket and is an ardent advocate for caregivers and their loved ones. Chris and his deceased partner’s, Bernard Richard Schiffer, caregiving story, “In Sickness and In Health: A Couple’s Final Journey” written by Diane C. Lade was published in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in April 2014, has been seen world-wide by over 400,000+ people. In January of 2015, the story was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and has won countless awards both nationally and internationally.
