Hospice Care > Camp Chrysalis

Camp '05
Counseling, discussions and activities tailored to the special needs of grieving children are offered at VNA Hospice’s Camp Chrysalis, a day camp offered twice yearly to Indian River County residents, ages seven through 12, who have lost a loved one. There is no charge to attend, and campers are not required to have a previous association with VNA Hospice.

The camp is staffed by VNA bereavement counselors, volunteers, and activity leaders who are trained in bereavement support. Special camp activities are designed to help children work through their grief and understand that their emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. Campers have an opportunity to interact with peers who have experienced a similar loss and discover they are not alone.

Camp Chrysalis is free of charge for Indian River County children ages 7—12, and is not limited to those who have been served by VNA Hospice. The event is made possible by the Clint S. Malone Memorial fund through the Indian River Community Foundation and Quail Valley Charities, Inc.

Spring camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011  at McKee Botanical Gardens, 350 US Highway 1, Vero Beach.

A scavenger hunt, wildlife exhibition, live butterfly release, and group workshops are just a few of the fun activities planned for the day.
