Visiting Nurse Association Celebrates Year of Achievements at Annual Board Meeting
Vero Beach, FL (February 5, 2008) — Members of the VNA & Hospice Foundation, VNA of the Treasure Coast, VNA Hospice of Indian River County, VNA Health Services and VNA Space Coast Boards of Directors met for their annual meeting on January 31 to elect 2007-2008 officers and renew board terms.
Kathy Hendrix, who has served as VNA of the Treasure Coast Board Chairman since 2006, passed the gavel to incoming chairman, Penny Cunningham. “I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity that lies ahead,” Cunningham said. “This year is going to be filled with opportunities, and I am committed to our potential.”
In her outgoing report, Hendrix commended several board members for their involvement in a number of VNA accomplishments within the past year. Those mentioned included: a cutting home telehealth initiative; the Friends with Wheels companion program; community flu shot expansion; the availability of the Healthcare on Wheels mobile unit seven days a week; the success of the 17th annual Golf-A-Thon; and The Art of Hospice partnership with the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
In other business, Hendrix recognized Art Castillo with the Distinguished Service Award. Peggy Cunningham received the Chairman’s Award. Ford Fegert was presented with a special recognition plaque. Ann Marie McCrystal, VNA & Hospice Foundation Chairman presented Sue Tompkins with the Exceptional Service Award and acknowledged Hendrix with a gift in appreciation for her time on the Treasure Coast Board.
