VNA Hospice to Host Teen Event, "Rock N' Remember

VERO BEACH, Fla. – (March 17, 2009) – Outside adventures, small group workshops and team building skills are just a few of the exciting activities planned for VNA Hospice’s Rock N’ Remember event, a bereavement retreat for teens who have lost a loved one, relative or close friend. The camp will be held from 9:30 a.m.—5:00 p.m.  Saturday, May 2nd, beginning at the VNA building, 110 35th Lane and ending at the Indian River Medical Center Behavioral Heath Center’s R.O.P.E.S. Challenge Course, 1190 37th Street.

The camp is staffed by VNA bereavement counselors, volunteers and activity leaders who are trained in bereavement support. Special camp activities are designed to help teenagers work through their grief and understand that their emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. The teens will have an opportunity to interact with peers who have experienced a similar loss and discover they are not alone. Teens will have the opportunity to build skills in problem solving, communication, decision making and trust, and gain a strong sense of self-worth and accomplishment through the R.O.P.E.S. Challenge Course.

Rock N’ Remember is free of charge for Indian River County teens ages 13—15, and is not limited to those who have been served by VNA Hospice.

Application deadline is April 17. For more information or to register a child, contact Maxine Stewart at 772.978.5629. For more information about VNA services, call 772.567.5551 or visit www.vnatc.com.
