Grand Harbor Tennis Tournament Supports VNA

Vero Beach, Fla. – (February 26, 2007) – On Feb. 15 more than 40 women came together for the 3rd annual “We’re All Heart” Grand Harbor Charity Tennis Tournament, which raised $3,786 in support of the VNA’s patient special needs fund.

The patient special needs fund supports patients whose condition requires special supplies or medications that may not be fully covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance programs. Supplies covered by the fund include diabetic equipment such as test strips, which can cost anywhere from $75 to $100 a month without insurance or Medicare. Medications for patients with limited financial resources are also a critical need.

In 2006 the VNA was able to launch this fund with the help of this group of lady tennis players. The proceeds from their 2006 event were the first to support this endeavor.

Anita O’Neill and Dollie Hunnicutt co-chaired this year’s tournament, and Christophe Delavaut, director of tennis at Grand Harbor, coordinated the event.

If any organization or individual is interested in supporting the patient special needs fund, contact Sarah Barker at 978-5591.

The Visiting Nurse Association is Indian River County’s first, and remains its sole, non-profit home health and hospice agency. For more information about VNA services and programs, visit www.vnatc.com or call 772.567.5551.
