VERO BEACH, Fla. – (March 12, 2008) – Painting, ceramics and outside games, are just a few of the fun activities planned for VNA Hospice’s Camp Chrysalis, a bereavement retreat for children who have lost a loved one. The camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Drive.
Special camp activities are designed to help children work through their grief and understand that their emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. Campers have an opportunity to interact with peers who have experienced a similar loss and discover they are not alone. The camp is staffed by VNA bereavement counselors, volunteers and activity leaders who are trained in bereavement support.
Camp Chrysalis is free for Indian River County children ages 7-12, and eligibility is not limited to those previously associated with VNA Hospice. The event is sponsored by John’s Island Community Service League, Rotary Club of Orchid Island and Quail Valley Charities.
Application deadline is April 4. For more information or to register, contact Lori Hoey at 772.978.5535. For more information about VNA services, call 772.567.5551 or visit www.vnatc.com.
