VNA to Host Bereavement Camp for Children

VERO BEACH, Fla. – (April 3, 2007) – Water sports, games, and arts and crafts are just a few of the fun activities planned for VNA Hospice’s Camp Chrysalis, a bereavement retreat for children who have lost a loved one. The camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the Gifford Youth Activity Center & Aquatic Center in Vero Beach.

Special camp activities are designed to help children work through their grief and understand that their emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. Campers have an opportunity to interact with peers who have experienced a similar loss and discover they are not alone. The camp is staffed by VNA bereavement counselors, volunteers and activity leaders who are trained in bereavement support.

Camp Chrysalis is free for Indian River County children ages 7-12, and eligibility is not limited to those previously associated with VNA Hospice. The event is sponsored by John’s Island Community Service League, Rotary Club of Orchid Island and Quail Valley Charities.

Application deadline is April 17. For more information or to register, contact Carolyn Amaral at 772.978.5558 or Michelle Jordan at 772.978.5535. For more information about VNA services, call 772.567.5551 or visit www.vnatc.com.
