Hidden Treasures Welcomes St. Edward’s Students

For the second year in a row, seven St. Edward’s students eagerly volunteered their time at VNA Hospice’s resale boutique, Hidden Treasures, during the school’s “Interim Week.” The five sophomores and two freshmen girls volunteered March 8th through March 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and were supervised by St. Edward’s math teacher, Dawn Warren. Taylor Alber, a freshman at St. Edwards School, was getting ready to decorate the store for St. Patrick’s Day. “I liked working the register, but I really liked meeting and talking with the store volunteers. I loved listening to their stories,” Alber said. Hidden Treasures store manager, Theresa Ooley, welcomed the extra help. “We are grateful the students chose Hidden Treasures for their project. We’ve enjoyed their fresh ideas and their youthful energy,” she says. The VNA offers an after-school and summer teen volunteer program available for youth in grades 9 through 12. Teens can earn service hours for scholarships and school requirements, all while giving back to the community in a fun and safe environment. VNA Hospice operates the Hidden Treasures resale boutique located at 656 21st Street, Vero Beach, in the Miracle Mile Plaza. Proceeds from the store help VNA Hospice provide care for Indian River County patients with life-limiting illnesses and also supports the day-to-day operating expenses of the VNA Hospice House.
