National VNA Week is May 11 - 17, 2009

Vero Beach, FL (May 5, 2009) – The Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) joins hundreds of organizations across the country in celebrating National VNA Week, May 11–17, 2009, by recognizing the importance of visiting nurse agencies and home healthcare providers who deliver high-quality, affordable care to elderly and disabled patients in the home and community setting.

“The second week of May has been set aside as a special time for expressing our appreciation to thousands of home healthcare clinicians and homecare providers who tirelessly care for millions of patients across the country,” stated Andy Carter, VNAA President and CEO. “We join Visiting Nurse Agencies across the country in saying thank you for the compassionate care provided by visiting nurses and home health providers.”

Jim Newbrough, President and CEO of the VNA of the Treasure Coast, which is headquartered in Vero Beach, echoed Carter’s sentiments. “At the VNA of the Treasure Coast, we provide services to those in our community who need it the most. We are able to provide this care because of the wonderful staff and our commitment to the mission of improving the lives of those we serve,” said Newbrough.

“Nonprofit Visiting Nurse Agencies treat patients where it matters most…in the home. There is no better time than now to recognize their contributions to healthcare and to express appreciation for the service and added value they offer society and our healthcare system,” added Carter.
