VNA Golf-A-Thon Will Tee Off Monday, May 5

The 18th Annual Golf-A-Thon benefiting the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation will take place on May 5 at Vero Beach Country Club. Pros from 12 different area clubs will volunteer their time to play as many holes of golf as possible from 7 a.m. until dusk. Community members can pledge a dollar amount for each hole their favorite pro plays or make a one-time contribution.

Last year, the event raised more than $195,000, which supported charity home health and hospice care to individuals and families within Indian River County. “We were so pleased with the generous contributions in 2007 and trust that the 2008 Golf-A-Thon will be even more successful,” said event co-chair Marilyn Wurzer.

Co-chairmen for the event are Marilyn Wurzer and Judi Bradley. The participating pros and their clubs include: Pat Gorman of Bent Pine Golf Club, Frank Mentzer of Grand Harbor Golf Club, Phil Leddy of Hawk’s Nest Golf Club, Joe Kern of Indian River Club, Patrick Berry of John’s Island Club, Tom Thornton of The Moorings Club, Rich Waage of Orchid Island Golf Club, Mark Cammarene of Pointe West, Don Meadows of Quail Valley Golf Club, Bob Gruber of Riomar Country Club, Randy Hedgecock of Vero Beach Country Club, and Matthew Challenor of The Windsor Club.
