18th Annual VNA Golf-A-Thon Supports Charitable Home Health & Hospice Care

Once again, the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation’s annual Golf-A-Thon has hit an all-time high.
The 18th annual Golf-A-Thon, which took place on May 5 at Vero Beach Country Club, raised more than $196,000 for Indian River County patients and their families in need of home health and hospice care. Throughout the day, 12 golf pros from different area clubs united to play an incredible 135 holes of golf in support of the VNA. Community members pledged a dollar amount for each hole played by the pros. Additionally, many businesses and individuals sponsored the event or made donations to the Golf-A-Thon.
Proceeds from the Golf-A-Thon will provide individuals and families of limited financial resources with hospice care; skilled home-based nursing services; bereavement counseling; and physical, speech, and occupational therapies.
Returning event co-chairs were Judi Bradley and Marilyn Wurzer. The participating pros and their clubs included: Pat Gorman of Bent Pine Gulf Club, Frank Mentzer of Grand Harbor Golf Club, Phil Leddy of Hawk’s Nest Golf Club, Joe Kern of Indian River Club, Patrick Berry of John’s Island Club, Tom Thornton of The Moorings Club, Rich Waage of Orchid Island Golf Club, Mark Cammarene of The Club at Pointe West, Don Meadows of Quail Valley Golf Club, Bob Gruber of Riomar Country Club, Randy Hedgecock of Vero Beach Country Club, and Matthew Challenor of Windsor.
