VERO BEACH, Fla. (July 6, 2005) – VNA Hospice of Indian River County is offering a free caregiver training seminar July 20-22 to teach caregivers ways to cope and offer suggestions about where they can go for help with respite.
According to the National Family Caregivers Association, more than 50 million people provide some form of care giving service annually. More than half of those people provide an average of 20 hours of care per week.
“The caregiving seminar offers an opportunity for people in the community to realize that they are not alone in their hardships,” said Lana Taylor, VNA social services manager. “Participants can learn new ideas and share some of their own experiences to help each other care for their loved one better.”
The caregiver training seminar is scheduled for 4 to 5 p.m. July 20-22 at the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 35th Lane, in the first floor conference room. To reserve a spot in the class, please call (772) 978-5559.
