Indian River County public schools commence on Monday, August 20, 2007. Will your child be ready? Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are required to present a record of physical examination completed within the past 12 months by a health care professional licensed in Florida and authorized to perform a general health examination. Indian River County School District students will not be admitted into school without this physical exam.
The VNA’s Health Care on Wheels Mobile Unit can be your school physical exam provider. Our licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) provide school physicals as a convenience for any Indian River County resident for a nominal fee of $25. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made by check or money order (no cash or credit cards please).
Physical exams are provided to patients on a first-come, first-served basis and wait time will vary per location. Each physical examination lasts approximately 10–15 minutes and the mobile unit will provide the necessary paperwork the schools require. Individuals should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to closing in order to receive their exam. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian in order to receive care. Patients will also be asked to provide proof of Indian River County residency, such as a Florida driver’s license, a picture I.D. or utility bill.
