The Visiting Nurse Association of the Treasure Coast recently announced that Ron Gordon, RN, BSN, CWOCN has been selected as the non-profit home health agency's Director for Home Care Services in Indian River County.
Gordon joined the VNA in 2002 as a Primary Care Nurse. He became a Clinical Specialist/Educator in 2003 and then moved into a Patient Care Manager role in the VNA's Space Coast office in 2004. In June of 2008, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Professional Services.
Gordon has worked in healthcare for more than 18 years, starting his career as an Emergency Medical Technician. He became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1992 and then a Registered Nurse in 2000. He has held various positions within the acute care setting in the areas of CCU, CVICU and the Cardiac Procedures Recovery Unit.
Gordon also has an extensive leadership background as a member of the United States Army/Florida Army National Guard. He spent 20 years in the military and retired in 2007 as a Captain. His military accomplishments include a Combat Medical Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Florida Army National Guard Noncommissioned Officer of the Year in 1999, Florida Officer Candidate School Leadership Award, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Gordon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University, a certification in Wound, Ostomy and Continence from Emory University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing Health Systems Leadership through Nova Southeastern University. He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society for nursing.
