VNA Hospice to Host Family Day Camp

VERO BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2005) – Many families need the help and support of others after a loved one dies. One way VNA Hospice can provide that assistance is through a family day camp scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Gifford Youth Activity Center (4875 43rd Avenue).

VNA Hospice Family Day Camp is an opportunity to connect bereaved families to each other, educate them on the stages of the grief process, and provide a safe and nurturing forum to express grief-related feelings. Families will have a chance to share memories, struggles and successes through activities and discussions in a supportive environment. After the camp, participants are invited to be VNA Hospice’s guest at the Gifford Aquatics Center for an afternoon of family fun at the pool.

Application deadline is Oct. 10. Those interested in attending are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible. Lunch will be provided. The camp is free for Indian River County children ages 7-16, and eligibility is not limited to those previously associated with VNA Hospice. The event is sponsored by John’s Island Community Service League, Rotary Club of Orchid Island and Quail Valley Charities.
