VNA Offering On-site Flu Clinics for Local Businesses

Vero Beach, Fla. (Sept. 21, 2005) – The Visiting Nurse Association is offering on-site flu vaccine clinics to help local businesses maintain healthy work environments and prevent disruptions in the workplace.

The corporate clinics are a part of the VNA’s Shoo the Flu program, an annual campaign protecting residents of Indian River, south Brevard and north St. Lucie counties from influenza and pneumonia for the past 13 years.

“The campaign supports the mission of the VNA’s community wellness program by promoting health throughout the counties we serve through education and outreach,” said Allison Downing, VNA Health Services manager.

The Shoo the Flu corporate vaccine service includes: on-site immunization clinics for companies with a minimum of 10 employees; individual influenza vaccinations at $31 per person; pneumonia vaccinations at $44 per person; and educational material for display and distribution to employees. The VNA will bill companies for the service, or employees can pay directly for their immunizations by cash or check.

“Employers might consider covering the cost of the vaccine for their employees. Not only does this show concern for their employees’ health, employers will increase the chances that their employees will get vaccinated. Companies will find that the expense will be paid for by the potential decrease in absenteeism,” Downing said.

The VNA’s corporate flu clinics begin in early November and run through December. Vaccination vouchers are available for organizations wishing to pay for their employees to be vaccinated at public clinics. To schedule an on-site immunization clinic or purchase vaccine vouchers for your employees, call (772) 978-5515. For general flu information, visit www.vnatc.com.
