VERO BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2006) - Water sports, games, and arts and crafts are just a few of the fun activities planned for VNA Hospice’s Camp Chrysalis, a bereavement camp for children who have lost a loved one. The camp will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m. at Life for Youth Ranch.
Special camp activities are designed to help children work through their grief and understand that their emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. Campers have an opportunity to interact with peers who have experienced a similar loss and discover they are not alone. The camp is staffed by bereavement counselors, volunteers, and activity leaders who are trained in bereavement support.
Camp Chrysalis is free for Indian River County children ages 7-12, and eligibility is not limited to those previously associated with VNA Hospice. The event is sponsored by John’s Island Community Service League, Rotary Club of Orchid Island, and Quail Valley Charities.
Application deadline Oct. 20. For more information or to register, contact Carolyn Amaral at (772) 978-5558 or Michelle Jordan at (772) 978-5535. For more information about VNA Hospice services, call (772) 567-5551 or visit www.vnatc.com.
