Vero Beach, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2005) – In preparation for its 15th annual Tree of Remembrance program, VNA Hospice is seeking volunteers to assist with coordinating the event at the Indian River Mall. For those who wish to help, there will be a meeting on Friday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 35th Lane in Vero Beach.
The Tree of Remembrance program, which begins Nov. 25 and runs through Dec. 26, helps people honor the memory of loved ones by signing angel cards to hang on the trees. These cards become part of the annual VNA Hospice Service of Remembrance.
The program also helps to raise funds to provide hospice care for patients in Indian River County who face a life-limiting illness. In 2004, more than $10,000 was raised through donations to the Tree of Remembrance and the sale of the hospice ornaments. This year, VNA Hospice is offering porcelain dove, snowflake or butterfly ornaments to individuals who contribute $15 or more to the hospice program.
VNA Hospice is the only non-profit provider of hospice care in the county. To schedule a time to assist with the program or learn more about the volunteer meeting, call Tracey Soethe at 978-5553 or Diane Banks at 978-5592.
