VNA & Hospice Foundation Educates on Planned Giving

Vero Beach, Fla. – (November 30, 2005) – Nationally renown planned giving speaker, Pamela Jones Davidson, educated donors and local professionals on estate planning opportunities as part of a series of three events hosted by the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation Nov. 16-17.

Davidson is the president of Davidson Gift Design, which is a consulting firm specializing in gift planning, planned giving program design and implementation, and training.

According to Davidson, 76 percent of the population supports charities on an annual basis.  And while it is important for donors to take part in annual giving opportunities, it is also essential that donors be educated about planned giving options, which can help individuals leave a legacy.  However, choosing the right planned giving vehicle is a vital part of the process.  “It is not just about the gift,” Davidson said.  “The arrangement must serve the needs of the donor.”

Using personal experiences, Davidson gave examples of the many planned giving options available such as charitable gift annuities, bequests and charitable remainder trusts.

Sponsors for the events included:  Northern Trust, the VNA & Hospice Foundation and Wachovia Wealth Management.
