VERO BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2005) - The VNA Hospice of Indian River County Board of Directors welcomes new members Elizabeth Smith and Susan Croom.
Smith is vice president and senior portfolio manager for Wilmington Trust and has more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry. Previously, she served as vice president at First Union National Bank in Charlotte, N.C., and director and first vice president for Smith Barney Inc. in New York City. Additionally she serves on the advisory board at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. A graduate from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., Smith moved to Vero Beach in 2000.
A long-time resident of Vero Beach, Croom is actively involved in the community, serving as clerk of the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church and as a member of the Alter Guild. She also serves on the executive committee of the Republican Party of Indian River County and served as the chairwoman for Habitat for Humanity’s “Women Build” initiative. She attended Brenau College and Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
VNA Hospice of Indian River County Board of Directors includes Kathy Hendrix, chairman; Sharon Broome, CEO; Dr. Richard Cunningham, medical director; Shay Connors, Dr. A. Willard Emch, Howard Gray, Elaine Hameister, Dorothy Hindert, Fran Jaffe, Carol Kanarek, Hal Lewis, Birgitte McKinney, Helen Murphy and Penny Umland. The VNA was Indian River County’s first, and remains its sole, non-profit home health and hospice agency.
