VERO BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 21, 2005) – The Visiting Nurse Association has added several public flu clinics in early January.
“It’s not too late to be immunized. The flu season usually peaks in February and the vaccine takes two weeks to provide immunity, so there is still plenty of time to protect yourself against the flu,” said Allison Downing, RN, VNA Health Services manager.
Clinics will be held at:
- The Outlets at Vero Beach, 1872 94th Drive, Vero Beach, Jan. 5, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- North County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd., Sebastian, Jan. 6, 1-3 p.m.
- The Outlets at Vero Beach, 1872 94th Drive, Vero Beach, Jan. 12, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The VNA administers vaccinations to anyone 18 and older; flu vaccines are $31 per dose; pneumonia vaccines are $44 per dose. There is no charge for people who present a Medicare or Health First Medicare HMO card at time of immunization. The VNA has provided flu and pneumonia vaccinations to residents of Indian River County for 13 years.
