As we age, we begin to realize the importance of living well. We learn to appreciate finding balance and developing a way of life that enriches our mind, spirit and body.

Emotional well-being is a matter of finding that which brings us joy and contentment. We are at our emotional best when we have purpose. This could mean taking a morning walk to breathe in the fresh air, finding a place to volunteer, tending to a garden, enjoying a creative activity or spending time with family or friends. When we satisfy this inner desire, we feel a sense of fulfillment.

The simplest gestures and activities can bring us to a place of peace, offering a sense of spiritual wellness. Spiritual wellness can also be defined as a sense of personal completeness or wholeness. Often individuals find spiritual wellness through their faith, though one can also find this through yoga, meditation, travel, silent walks in nature, reading or listening to music. Spiritual wellness is an exercise. We actively self-reflect and give deeper thought to what we value, need and desire. We can focus on that which gives our lives meaning.

The key to wellness is understanding how to nourish the mind, spirit and body. We are a continual work in progress. As we age, our bodies and nutritional needs are constantly changing.
