The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) will hold a free community workshop for those dealing with grief during the holiday season. ‘Remembering our Favorite Things: Grief During the Holidays’ will take place on Tuesday, November 29 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Intergenerational Center, located at 1590 9th Street SW, in Vero Beach. The VNA welcomes all community members coping with processing grief during the holiday season to attend. Facilitated by VNA bereavement staff and counselors, the event will include: music, sensory exploration, social support, a candlelight remembrance and refreshments. The VNA’s bereavement department holds several remembrance events throughout the year, including: Ceremony of Remembrance, bi-annually; children’s bereavement day camp, Camp Chrysalis, bi-annually; and an annual holiday event, inviting community members to remember loved ones lost. In addition to their special events, the bereavement department also offers grief counseling at no-cost to members of the community, as well as weekly and bi-weekly bereavement support groups throughout Indian River County.
