Flu season is fast approaching, and we are preparing for its 28th season of its “Shoo the Flu” vaccination program. The VNA’s priority is to keep our community healthy, and the organization encourages all area residents to get their flu shot early in the season. The VNA will begin holding public “Shoo the Flu” vaccination clinics starting September 14th.
New this year, the VNA will be holding drive up clinics so individuals can get a flu shot from the safety of their car. The drive-up clinics will be held at the VNA office parking lot, located at 1110 35th Lane, every Wednesday from 3pm-5pm and Saturday from 10am – 12pm. Those who attend will be asked to remain in their cars and a VNA nurse will accommodate them.
In addition, VNA will be holding clinics at VNA Hidden Treasures Vero Beach thrift store every Monday from 9:30am – 11:30am.
Due to COVID-19, the flu clinics will have increased safety measures in place. All who attend a VNA clinic will must wear a mask, have their temperature taken and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
The VNA offers three types of flu vaccinations: a preservative-free high-dose vaccine, a preservative-free quadrivalent vaccine and a regular quadrivalent vaccine. The high-dose vaccine contains four times the number of antigens and is only for those individuals who are 65 years or older. The quadrivalent vaccine is for individuals 10 years or older and offers broader coverage than the regular flu shot.
