The Visiting Nurse Association of the Treasure Coast (VNA) is proud to announce Sue Tompkins as the new chairman of their Treasure Coast board of directors. Currently serving as vice president and senior financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in Vero Beach, Tompkins began her career in the financial services industry in 1985. Serving in executive positions with Barnett Bank and Harris Private Bank, her background includes corporate and personal banking, trust and estate administration, investment management, charitable planning and financial strategies. Tompkins has served on various VNA boards since 2004.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the board chairman for the coming year. Having personally experienced the wonderful care the VNA provides, I am fully committed to our agency’s mission of providing the highest quality healthcare and services to the entire community,” Tompkins said.
The VNA is the only non-profit home care and hospice provider in Indian River County. For over 40 years, the community has trusted VNA nurses, therapists, aides and staff to care for them in their homes. The organization offers three core service lines – private care, home healthcare and hospice – as well as providing community services like no-cost blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, flu vaccination clinics and it’s VNA Health Care on Wheels mobile health clinic.
Earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1985, Tompkins also has earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and holds a Series 7, Series 66 and Health, Life and Variable Annuities licenses. Originally from Newtown, Connecticut, Tompkins and husband Chris have lived in Vero Beach since 1986, and have two children, John and Ben. In addition to serving as co-chair for the United Way campaign in 2016, she is the past president of the United Way of Indian River County, Impact 100 and the Education Foundation of Indian River County.
